Prevention of Vector-Borne Diseases Awareness Activities

As per the circular issued by the Directorate of Education, GNCTD, regarding the Prevention and Control of Vector-Borne Diseases (Dengue, Chikungunya & Malaria), Himalaya Public Senior Secondary School organized a series of awareness activities to educate students about mosquito-borne diseases and the importance of preventive measures. The programme aimed to create awareness about maintaining cleanliness, preventing water stagnation, using mosquito repellents, wearing full-sleeved uniforms, and keeping the surroundings clean to prevent mosquito breeding.
Students from different classes actively participated in class-wise activities designed to promote awareness in a creative and engaging manner. Students of Classes VI and IX participated in a Poster Making Competition on the theme "Prevention of Dengue, Chikungunya & Malaria", where they prepared informative and creative posters highlighting preventive measures such as eliminating stagnant water, maintaining clean surroundings, and protecting themselves from mosquito bites. Students of Class VII took part in a Poem Recitation Activity, presenting meaningful poems that emphasized cleanliness, good health, and the prevention of mosquito-borne diseases. Meanwhile, students of Classes VIII and X showcased their creativity in a Slogan Writing Competition, writing impactful slogans that encouraged cleanliness, public awareness, and active community participation in preventing vector-borne diseases.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who demonstrated creativity, confidence, and a strong understanding of the importance of disease prevention. Through their posters, poems, and slogans, students effectively conveyed messages promoting hygiene, environmental cleanliness, and healthy practices. The activities successfully reinforced the idea that prevention is the best protection against dengue, chikungunya, and malaria. The initiative also inspired students to become responsible citizens by adopting healthy habits and spreading awareness among their families, friends, and the wider community.
